Four grass types, one right for your yard
St. Augustine, Zoysia, Bermuda, and Centipede grass sod for Acadiana lawns.
Every recommendation on this page comes from delivering and installing sod across Lafayette and the Acadiana parishes since 2016.
Which one fits your yard?

- Great for athletic fields and high-use areas
Centipede Grass Sod

- Low maintenance and fertilization requirements
- Called "lazy man's grass" since it's easy to maintain
Six factors to weigh before you order.
Walk through these and the grass that fits your Acadiana lot practically picks itself.
Each variety has different colors, textures, and blade structures. You will live with this lawn for years, so choose a look you can live with.
Premium varieties like Empire Zoysia run higher per pallet than Centipede or Classic St. Augustine. Decide grass type first, then size to budget.
St. Augustine, Zoysia, or Centipede for fewer mowings. Bermuda is the toughest but needs the most upkeep to look its best.
Full sun 7+ hours: Bermuda or Zoysia. Mixed sun and shade: Zoysia or Palmetto St. Augustine. Heavy oak canopy: Palmetto St. Augustine.
Kids and pets daily: Empire Zoysia. Athletic-level wear: Tifway 419 Bermuda. Moderate family: St. Augustine. Light traffic: Centipede.
Heavy alluvial clay near bayous: St. Augustine or Centipede. Sandy or acidic loam in rural Acadia or Vermilion: Centipede. New construction full sun: TifTuf Bermuda for drought tolerance.

Common grass questions.
Centipede. Lowest fertilizer need, handles sandy or acidic loam, and once established it asks for very little. That is why it is called the lazy man's grass.
Palmetto St. Augustine. The most shade tolerant cultivar in our lineup. Built for older Lafayette and Acadiana lots with mature oaks.
Bermuda for athletic-level wear. Zoysia for family-yard wear. Bermuda recovers faster, Zoysia holds up under daily kid and dog traffic.
Yes. Common across Acadiana: full sun front yard in Bermuda or Zoysia, shaded backyard in St. Augustine. We help plan the edges on the call.
April through September is peak root-in weather. Year round install works in our USDA zone 9a climate, but warm-soil months establish fastest.
