Four grass types we deliver by the pallet.
Cultivars in stock right now across all four warm-season grasses.
St. Augustine Grass Sod
- Wide blade with dense growth that crowds out weeds
- Performs better in shade than other warm-season turfgrasses
- Tolerates moderate foot traffic with very good wear recovery
- Most popular grass across the southern US for years
Zoysia Grass Sod
- Fine to medium blade with very dense carpet-like growth
- Performs better in shade than other warm-season turf grasses
- Tolerates heavy foot traffic with very good wear recovery
- Used in lawns and golf courses across the country
Bermuda Grass Sod
- Fine blade, warm-season, heat tolerant
- Performs better in full sun, but can tolerate a little shade
- High foot traffic tolerance with fast recovery from wear
- Great for athletic fields and high-use areas
Centipede Grass Sod
- Medium blade, warm-season, heat tolerant
- Performs better in full sun, tolerates a little shade
- Low maintenance and fertilization requirements
- Called "lazy man's grass" since it's easy to maintain
Best grass pick for your yard.
Every yard is a little different. Here is how we match grass to your situation so you are not guessing.
- Family yard with kids or dogs: If your yard takes real traffic from kids or pets, Zoysia is the first pick. Fine blade, but it handles wear without thinning out. St. Augustine is a solid second choice when the yard has shade from oaks.
- Full-sun new subdivision: TifTuf Bermuda suits a full-sun new build. Drought tolerant and fills in fast, which matters on a lot starting from bare dirt. Centipede works as a lower-maintenance alternative on sunny lots with sandy coastal soil.
- Older lot with shade: For a shaded lot, I would not suggest Bermuda or Centipede. Centipede can handle some shade, but Bermuda does not do well at all in shade. So I recommend St. Augustine or Zoysia here.
- Low-maintenance rural property: On a larger Acadia or Vermilion Parish acreage with sandy or acidic loam, Centipede is the best fit. Slower growth means fewer mowings, and it holds up in that soil better than the other three varieties.

Both. You can order sod by the pallet and install it yourself, or book our crew for full installation including ground prep, grading, and post-install care instructions.
Lafayette and most of the Acadiana region sit in USDA plant hardiness zone 9a. All four of our warm-season grasses (St. Augustine, Zoysia, Bermuda, Centipede) are well-suited to this climate, handling the long humid summers and mild winters typical of South Louisiana.
Wait two to three weeks after installation before the first mow, once the roots have knit into the soil. After that: Bermuda about once a week at 1 to 1.5 inches, Zoysia every 7 to 10 days at 1.5 to 2 inches, St. Augustine about once a week at 2.5 to 4 inches, Centipede every 10 to 14 days at 1.5 to 2 inches. Never remove more than a third of the blade in one mowing.
It comes down to sun, traffic, and how much care you want to do. Full sun with heavy foot traffic or pets: Bermuda. Full sun with low-maintenance: Centipede. Shade or mixed sun: St. Augustine. Medium sun with a fine-blade family lawn feel: Zoysia. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your yard with the quote request and we will point you to the best fit.
